About Pink Chiffon® Rose of Sharon

Pink Chiffon® is a named rose-of-Sharon selection, Hibiscus syriacus ‘JWNWOOD4’, with large lacy double pale-pink flowers streaked with magenta. Its upright, graceful shrub form carries dark-pink buds and blooms for weeks in summer. ## Garden Use This deciduous shrub is suited to a sunny border, foundation planting, hedge, or specimen position. Proven Winners gives mature dimensions of 8–12 feet tall and 6–10 feet wide, USDA zones 5–9, and full-sun exposure. It grows in well-drained soils, including alkaline, clay, sandy, and salty sites, and is listed as heat tolerant and deer resistant. The [Pink Chiffon® profile](https://www.provenwinnerscolorchoice.com/product/pink-chiffon-rose-of-sharon/) also notes drought tolerance after the first year. ## Growing Notes Give the shrub room for its naturally upright branching and summer display. New-wood flowering means the season’s flowers develop on current growth; full sun supports the strongest flowering. ## Maintenance Water regularly while the shrub establishes, then water during prolonged dry periods. Apply fertilizer in spring only as needed to support flowering. Routine pruning is unnecessary; if shaping is desired, prune in early spring.
