Pinpoint Gold False Cypress

Pinpoint® Gold false cypress (Chamaecyparis lawsoniana ‘SMNCLMG’) is a narrow evergreen conifer with feathery golden foliage. Its upright columnar form brings year-round color to a specimen planting or screen where a modest spread is useful. ## Form and placement The [breeder’s exact-selection profile](https://springmeadownursery.com/plantfinder/pinpoint-gold-11830) identifies ‘SMNCLMG’, PP#33,228, and lists 15–20 feet tall and 3–5 feet wide in USDA Zones 5–7. Full sun or part sun is suitable. The current metric dimensions of 5 meters tall and 1 meter wide are retained as approximate values within the documented ranges; the labels are changed to show those full ranges accurately. ## Soil and water Plant in well-drained soil and maintain even moisture with mulch. The breeder notes that the selection does not tolerate drought or dry soil. It works as a specimen, container plant, hedge, or mixed-border evergreen. ## Maintenance Its natural narrow column needs little pruning. If needed, prune to shape in late spring and avoid cutting back into bare old wood.
