Taylors Sunburst Shore Pine

Taylor's Sunburst is an evergreen lodgepole-pine selection with an upright, relatively narrow form. Its spring flush is bright golden yellow, then fades through yellow-green as the older needles remain green. ## Features Oregon State University records the cultivar as Pinus contorta var. latifolia 'Taylor's Sunburst' and notes its red pollen cones, 6–8 inches of annual growth, and hardiness to USDA Zone 3. The original tree was observed at high elevation in Colorado; its scions were grafted by Jean Iseli, who introduced the selection through Iseli Nursery. A wholesale grower lists a mature garden size of 12–15 feet tall by 8–10 feet wide, so a 10-year size should not be mistaken for its eventual dimensions.
