Evergreen, native conifer with a narrowly pyramidal habit when young, changing to a more irregular narrow, cylindrical habit at maturity. Long needles can be dark green to yellowish green. Drought resistant and tolerant of alkaline soils and coastal conditions. Most important timber tree in North America, second only to the Douglas Fir. Great for a large yard or mass plantings.
