Selection of Pinus sylvestris (Scotch pine) grows in a tight, upright form. This cultivar has proven to be a fast grower, growing up to a foot each year. Gray-blue needles cover branches that are just shy of perfectly vertical. Winter tying my be necessary in areas of heavy snow load to avoid breakage of branches.
