Podocarpus (genus)

This profile represents Podocarpus at genus rank. [Kew](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/328880-2) accepts the genus. No species, cultivar or planting material is chosen, and no common height, hardiness, water need or measured fire performance is assigned to every member. ## County source context The [2014 county list](https://www.slocounty.ca.gov/departments/planning-building/forms-documents/environmental-forms-and-documents/plants-information/county-approved-plant-list), page 22, prints Podocarpus (Varieties)/F1 in a shrub/tree context. F1 assumes higher maintenance/watering within 30 feet. The county notes caution around animals and possible fruit litter. These remain source cautions, not uniform traits or a selection of P. macrophyllus. These are qualified documentary source contexts at the printed generic-name scope, not verified individual-member assessments. The catalog category organizes this record without establishing one habit or use for every member. Keep regional ratings separate, identify the actual plant before choosing placement, and follow the source’s spacing, watering and dead-material-removal conditions. No plant is fireproof.
