Poplar Tree (Populus)

Populus is a genus of fast-growing deciduous trees including poplars, aspens, and cottonwoods, primarily native to the Northern Hemisphere. These trees are characterized by their striking bark, triangular or heart-shaped leaves with flattened petioles that tremble in the breeze, and dioecious flowering catkins. While valued for quick shade, windbreaks, and timber, they possess aggressive, invasive root systems. They thrive in moist, well-drained soils and require full sun exposure.
