The Balsam Poplar is one of the northernmost trees of America. It grows very fast along river sides and it’s highly flood-tolerant. Often found in mixed

stands with other Northern species such as Balsam Fir, White Spruce, Black Spruce, Paper Birch, Aspen, Red Maple, Tamarack. The buds have a balsamic resin of medical use.
