Cottonwood Tree

Populus deltoides, the Eastern Cottonwood, is a majestic, fast-growing deciduous tree known for its massive stature and broad, rounded crown. It features distinctive triangular, glossy green leaves that rustle in the slightest breeze and turn a brilliant yellow in autumn. Native to North American riparian zones, it thrives in full sun and moist soils, often stabilizing riverbanks. While its wood is brittle, it is valued for pulp and plywood. Its iconic cotton-like seeds drift beautifully in late spring.
