About Happy Hour™ Orange Portulaca

Happy Hour™ Orange (PAS752674) is a named Portulaca grandiflora selection in the Happy Hour™ series. It grows as a compact mound and carries vivid orange flowers. Ball Seed reports late-spring and summer flowering, full sun, an 8–10 inch height, and a 10–12 inch spread. The series is bred to flower earlier under shorter day lengths and is promoted for hot, dry conditions; its blooms attract bees and butterflies. North Carolina Extension describes moss rose as drought- and heat-tolerant and recommends well-drained sandy or rocky soil. See [Ball Seed](https://info.ballseed.com/PlantInfo/?phid=050905416003789), [North Carolina Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/portulaca-grandiflora/common-name/rose-moss/), and [Kew Plants of the World Online](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:208592-2). ## Garden Use The compact habit works in sunny containers, at the front of a border, or among rocks and crevices. The Orange selection brings a strong warm accent to low plantings. ## Maintenance Choose a sunny spot with fast-draining sandy or rocky soil. Water lightly and allow the soil to dry between waterings. Flowers close overnight and on cloudy or rainy days.
