About Happy Hour™ Peppermint Portulaca

Happy Hour™ Peppermint (PAS752676) is a named Portulaca grandiflora selection in the Happy Hour™ series. It forms a compact mound and bears the series’ large, vivid flowers. The producer gives a flowering season from late spring through summer, full-sun exposure, and mature dimensions of 8–10 inches tall by 10–12 inches wide. Happy Hour selections are bred to bloom under shorter day lengths than competing bush types and are promoted for hot, dry conditions. The producer lists drought tolerance, heat tolerance, low maintenance, and attraction for bees and butterflies. North Carolina Extension recommends full sun and well-drained sandy or rocky soil for moss rose. See [PanAmerican Seed](https://www.panamseed.com/products/050905416003990/portulaca-happy-hour-peppermint/), [North Carolina Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/portulaca-grandiflora/common-name/rose-moss/), and [Kew Plants of the World Online](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:208592-2). ## Garden Use Use its neat, low mound in sunny containers, at a border edge, or in a rock or crevice garden. Its named Peppermint selection keeps the series’ compact, well-branched presentation. ## Maintenance Plant in full sun and sharply drained sandy or rocky soil. Keep watering light and avoid prolonged wetness. Flowers close overnight and on cloudy or rainy days.
