About Happy Hour™ Rosita Portulaca

Happy Hour™ Rosita (PAS752680) is a named Portulaca grandiflora selection in the Happy Hour™ series. It grows into a compact mound with large, vivid flowers. Ball Seed lists late-spring and summer bloom, full-sun exposure, and mature dimensions of 8–10 inches tall by 10–12 inches wide. Happy Hour selections are bred to flower earlier under shorter days than competing bush types. The series is promoted for hot, dry conditions and is described as drought-tolerant, heat-tolerant, low-maintenance, and attractive to bees and butterflies. North Carolina Extension recommends well-drained sandy or rocky soil for this species. See [Ball Seed](https://info.ballseed.com/PlantInfo/?phid=050905416004745), [North Carolina Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/portulaca-grandiflora/common-name/rose-moss/), and [Kew Plants of the World Online](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:208592-2). ## Garden Use Its small mounded habit suits sunny containers, border fronts, and rock or crevice gardens. Rosita retains its selection name within the Happy Hour series. ## Maintenance Plant in full sun with sharply drained sandy or rocky soil. Water lightly and avoid persistently wet ground. Flowers close overnight and on cloudy or rainy days.
