About Mega Pazzaz™ Dark Pink Purslane

Mega Pazzaz™ Dark Pink is Danziger’s dark-pink selection of *Portulaca oleracea* in the MEGA PAZZAZ™ series. It combines large, single blooms with a controlled semi-trailing habit; Danziger lists it at 14–16 inches tall and 16–18 inches wide, with early flowering and suitability for pollinator plantings. [Danziger product details](https://www.danzigeronline.com/catalog/annuals/mega-pazzaz-dark-pink/) [North Carolina Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/portulaca-oleracea/) describes the species as an annual succulent suited to full sun and well-drained soil. ## Landscape Use Use it near the edge of a sunny container, in a hanging basket, as a low ground-covering accent, or toward the front of a warm-season border. The pink flowers and trailing stems provide color at the edge of mixed plantings while the series’ large blooms can be viewed up close. Danziger also identifies the variety as a strong option for heat- and drought-tolerant programs and for pollinator-focused displays. ## Growing Conditions Give the plant a sunny position and soil that drains freely. The succulent foliage stores water, and established *Portulaca oleracea* tolerates dry periods, but recently planted specimens still need water while roots settle in. Avoid persistently wet potting mix; good drainage is especially important in containers. The listed height and spread are useful planning ranges rather than a guarantee of identical size at every site. ## Maintenance Water during establishment and during extended dry spells, allowing excess water to drain away. Trim stems lightly if they extend beyond the intended edge; otherwise, let the semi-trailing form spill naturally.
