About Moorpark Apricot Fruit Tree

Moorpark is a traditional apricot with pink-tinged white spring blossom and large, sweet orange fruit flushed red. It is self-fertile, and fruit ripens from July into August in a nursery reference; harvest timing varies by climate. The [Royal Horticultural Society profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/126376/prunus-armeniaca-moorpark-f/details) describes its blossom, fruit, and growing conditions, while [One Green World](https://onegreenworld.com/product/moorpark-apricot/) gives details for a specific nursery offering. ## Size and growing conditions Published mature sizes differ. One Green World lists a 10–15 ft height for its Myrobalan 29C-rooted tree; RHS gives 2.5–4 m height and 1.5–2.5 m spread. These are source-specific estimates rather than a single universal size, so allow room for local growth and the rootstock actually planted. RHS recommends full sun, sheltered placement, and moist but well-drained loam. ## Fruit and pollination Moorpark is self-fertile, though another apricot may improve fruit set. One Green World reports USDA zones 4–8 for its offering; RHS uses a UK hardiness rating, which is not directly interchangeable with USDA zones. ## Maintenance Protect early blossoms where late frosts are common. Water during establishment and fruit development, prune only in dry weather at an appropriate local time, thin heavy crops if needed, and gather fallen fruit.
