Puget Gold is an apricot selected for reliable production in the cool, moist climate of western Washington. It bears large, flavorful fruit and is described as self-fruitful, with an early-August harvest in Dave Wilson Nursery’s Central California calendar; harvest timing shifts by region. Washington State University trial records document this cultivar’s performance on different rootstocks in a maritime climate.
## Garden Use
Grow Puget Gold in a sunny home orchard or edible landscape. Its fruit is suitable for fresh eating and preserving, and the tree benefits from a location with good air movement.
## Growing Conditions
Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. Apricot flowers open early in the season and can be injured by spring frost; select a site with good air drainage and avoid low frost pockets. Water regularly while the tree establishes.
## Maintenance
Prune to maintain an open, sturdy framework and remove damaged branches. Thin an unusually heavy crop if needed, and monitor for stone-fruit diseases in cool, wet weather.
