Spreading shrub with attractive gray-green leaves. In late spring it is covered in pure white, 1/2 inch flowers, turning into sweet purple-black edible fruits in late summer. Plants bearing yellow fruits may occasionally appear. Fruit (approximately 5/8" with one seed) has a sweet, slightly astringent flavor, can be dried for later use or made into a tasty jelly.
