About Peach 'Bounty'

‘Bounty’ is a yellow-fleshed, freestone peach cultivar. Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station describes it as a large to very large peach with firm flesh and very good flavor, ripening in early August in southern New Jersey. The cultivar is vigorous, spreading, and productive in the Rutgers profile. It is suited to a home orchard where a late-season freestone peach is wanted; local harvest dates vary with climate and season. The mature tree needs room for its canopy and access for picking and pruning. Peach trees flower in spring and need suitable growing conditions for fruit production. Check local chill-hour and pollination recommendations before planting, since the Rutgers cultivar description is specific to its New Jersey growing region. See [Rutgers NJAES’s yellow-fleshed peach guide](https://njaes.rutgers.edu/fs1201/) for ‘Bounty’ fruit and harvest information. ## Maintenance Water consistently during establishment and fruit development, while keeping soil well drained. Prune annually to maintain an open fruiting framework, remove damaged wood, and thin developing fruit when needed for good size.
