Cot-N-Candy is a white-fleshed aprium, an interspecific apricot–plum hybrid developed by Zaiger Genetics. The Dave Wilson listing identifies it as self-fruitful, gives a 400-hour chill requirement, and places its USDA hardiness range at zones 7–10.
## Fruit and Rootstock
The fruit is medium-sized, very sweet, and juicy, with an early- to mid-July harvest in the source’s central California timing. The patent record identifies U.S. Plant Patent 17,827 and a grant date of June 26, 2007. The nursery’s product page describes Citation as a semi-dwarf rootstock at about three-quarters standard size; confirm the rootstock on the tree being planted because it affects eventual spacing and size.
## Site
Give this fruit tree a sunny position and soil that drains well. Allow room for its selected rootstock and the airflow needed around a productive stone-fruit canopy. Local winter chilling and spring weather affect bloom and fruit set.
## Maintenance
Water regularly while the tree establishes and during fruit development, while avoiding waterlogged soil. Prune to retain a balanced framework, and thin or remove damaged wood when needed. Harvest ripe fruit promptly and protect it from birds and insects.
