About Garden Prince - Almond Tree

‘Garden Prince’ is a self-fertile genetic-dwarf almond with pink blossoms and soft-shelled nuts. It stays compact compared with many almond trees and suits a small garden or a large container. Nursery profiles give slightly different mature-size ranges, so leave room for its local growing conditions and rootstock. ## Site and crop Plant in a sunny, sheltered position with fertile, well-drained soil. The cultivar needs winter chilling to set nuts, and frost-free conditions protect its blossom. Water during establishment, long dry periods, and fruit development. A single Garden Prince can set nuts, although another almond may help if pollination is poor. ## Maintenance Use an open-centre or vase framework and prune lightly to maintain access to the canopy. Keep the root area evenly watered during dry spells and avoid waterlogged soil. Harvest only when the nut husks have matured and dried; dry the nuts before storing them. [Waimea Nurseries](https://www.waimeanurseries.co.nz/home-gardeners/products/nut-trees/almonds/garden-prince/) describes the cultivar’s self-fertility, size, site, and care; [Story Thyme Farms](https://storythymefarms.com/plants/almond) gives cultivar-specific hardiness, pink blossom, and a separate approximate size range.
