About Pink Cascade® Weeping Flowering Cherry

Pink Cascade® (NCPH1) is a patented flowering cherry developed in collaboration by NC State University and J. Frank Schmidt and Son Nursery. Its bright pink blossoms and strongly weeping branches create a distinctive early-spring display, followed by fine-textured green foliage and fall color. Frank Schmidt & Son Co.](https://jfschmidt.com/all-trees/introductions/pink-cascade-cherry/) ## Placement One nursery listing gives a size near 12 feet tall and wide, while NC State notes that final height depends on training and that an untrained plant can spread toward 20 feet. Plant in full sun to partial shade; flowering is most prolific in full sun. Use it as a patio or specimen tree, or train the top at a chosen height and let the branches cascade. It grows best in moist, fertile, well-drained soil and tolerates heat and clay, but avoid dry ground. The green summer leaves turn red and yellow in fall, and the bare drooping branches retain sculptural interest through winter. Inspect periodically for common ornamental cherry pests and diseases, and remove dead or damaged wood as needed.
