Harvester is a yellow-fleshed freestone peach selected for early summer harvest in warm-region trials. Its fruit has yellow skin with a red blush, firm flesh, and a productive tree with upright growth; flowering is dark rose and supplies viable pollen. [Clemson University’s cultivar evaluation](https://www.clemsonpeach.org/index.php?e=1270&p=181) reports a 750-hour chill requirement and a late-June South Carolina evaluation, while northern Louisiana records place harvest about three weeks before Elberta; local timing depends on climate.
## Growing conditions
Plant in full sun in well-drained soil, allowing room for the mature tree and access for picking. Peach trees flower in spring and set best with regular moisture during establishment and fruit development; avoid waterlogged ground. Harvester’s Clemson record notes strong productivity and recommends it for northern Louisiana or comparable conditions. The [University of Georgia cultivar table](https://extension.uga.edu/publications/detail.html?number=C877) gives a similar 750-hour chilling figure, useful when matching the cultivar to a winter climate.
## Maintenance
Water deeply during dry spells, especially while young and when fruit is sizing. Prune in late winter to maintain an open framework, remove damaged or crossing branches, and support light penetration. Monitor for peach leaf curl, brown rot, and bacterial spot; Clemson reports good resistance to bacterial spot and moderate resistance to brown rot, not immunity. Thin a heavy crop when fruit is small to reduce branch strain and improve remaining fruit size.
