About Oregon Curl Free Peach

Oregon Curl Free is a self-fertile peach cultivar valued for good resistance to peach leaf curl. Its semi-freestone fruit can ripen on the tree without becoming mealy, making it useful for home fruit growing where leaf curl is a recurring concern. ## Fruit and Site Cloud Mountain Farm Center lists this exact variety as hardy to USDA zone 5 and notes that young trees still need protection from peach leaf curl until established. Oregon State University also includes Oregon Curl Free among cultivars offered as leaf-curl-resistant. Resistance reduces risk but does not make a tree immune, especially in wet spring weather. See the [Cloud Mountain variety profile](https://www.cloudmountainfarmcenter.org/nursery/oregon-curl-free-peach/) and [OSU’s peach leaf curl guidance](https://solvepestproblems.oregonstate.edu/plant-problems/peach-leaf-curl). ## Growing Conditions Give the tree an open, sunny position and soil with good drainage. As with other peaches, bloom and fruit development respond to local winter temperatures and spring weather. ## Maintenance Monitor young foliage for leaf curl and follow local extension guidance for prevention and treatment while the tree establishes. Water during dry periods, especially as roots establish and fruit develops, without keeping the soil waterlogged.
