Redskin is a vigorous, spreading peach selected by the Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station and introduced in 1944. Its fruit has firm yellow flesh beneath red-blushed skin and separates freely from the pit.
## Flowers and harvest
The tree bears fragrant pink-and-white flowers in mid-spring, followed by freestone peaches that can be eaten fresh or preserved. Redskin is self-pollinating, though spring weather and pollinator activity still affect fruit set. It is listed for USDA zones 6–9.
## Growing conditions
Plant in full sun with room for a spreading canopy. A sunny, open site helps the crop mature and allows air to move through the branches. Existing mature dimensions vary with rootstock and pruning, so give the tree space and shape it for the available garden.
## Maintenance
Water deeply while the tree establishes and during prolonged dry weather. Prune in the dormant season to maintain a well-lit framework and remove crowded or damaged branches; thin a heavy crop to support fruit size and reduce limb strain. Pick fruit as it colors and softens.
