Create design onlineAbout Reliance Peach Tree
Reliance is a yellow-fleshed peach valued for dependable cropping in cold-winter regions. It is self-fertile, and its strong cold hardiness has made it useful where many peach cultivars struggle to crop.
## Flowers and fruit
Pink blossoms open in spring. The fruit has yellow flesh and ripens in summer; sources describe it as freestone, while some evaluations classify it as semi-freestone. The peaches suit fresh eating and home preservation.
## Growing conditions
Choose a full-sun position with well-drained soil and enough space for the canopy. The recorded hardiness range extends to USDA zone 4; flowering time and crop success still depend on local spring temperatures and frost exposure. Rootstock and pruning affect final tree size.
## Maintenance
Water deeply during establishment and in dry periods, avoiding saturated soil. Prune during dormancy to keep the center open to light and air, and thin excess fruit after set when branches carry a heavy crop. Monitor for peach leaf curl and other stone-fruit problems, removing affected material as appropriate.
