Snow Queen is a vigorous, vase-shaped white nectarine introduced by Armstrong Nurseries in 1975. Its juicy fruit is an early-season freestone, and small deep-pink flowers appear in spring.
## Flowers and fruit
Snow Queen is a regular bearer and self-fruitful. In central California its fruit ripens in late June, roughly two to three weeks before Babcock peach; timing varies by climate. The white flesh is melting and fine-textured, and the fruit is suited to fresh eating and dessert.
## Growing conditions
Choose a sunny site with well-drained soil. The cultivar has a low chilling requirement, about 250–300 hours, so it may suit mild-winter areas better than high-chill selections. Its vigor and broad vase-shaped form call for room around the canopy; actual size depends on rootstock and pruning.
## Maintenance
Water consistently while young and through dry weather, then prune during dormancy to retain a strong open framework. Thin developing fruit when the crop is heavy, keep the root zone free of competing weeds, and monitor for leaf curl and brown rot.
