About Red Gold Nectarine

Red Gold is a late-season nectarine with yellow flesh, glossy red-blushed skin and a freestone pit. It bears bright pink flowers in spring and produces large fruit suited to fresh eating and preserving. ## Flowers and fruit The fruit ripens late in the season and has firm, sweet flesh. A light crop can grow large, so thin excess fruit in late spring to reduce strain on the tree. The profile lists USDA zones 5–9 and full sun. ## Growing conditions Plant in a sunny position with well-drained soil and enough space for a fruiting canopy. Nectarines are smooth-skinned peaches; the cultivar’s crop timing, chill requirement and final size should be matched to local climate and the rootstock supplied. ## Maintenance Water deeply during establishment and keep moisture steady as fruit develops, without waterlogging the roots. Prune in late winter or early spring to remove damaged branches and allow air through the canopy. Thin a heavy crop, and monitor fruit for pests and disease.
