About Jade Parade® Sand Cherry

Jade Parade® is a compact, spreading sand cherry selected as ‘UCONNPP002’. Its fragrant white spring flowers are followed by small dark fruit, while glossy blue-green foliage develops yellow, orange, and red tones in fall. The spreading habit makes it useful as a low groundcover or mass planting. [First Editions](https://firsteditionsplants.com/product/jade-parade-sand-cherry/) describes its garden size and care, and [University of Connecticut](https://today.uconn.edu/2021/02/horticulture-professor-patents-new-plants/) documents the selection’s origin. ## Growing Plant in full sun. First Editions lists a mature height of 2–3 feet, spread of 4–6 feet, and USDA zones 3–7. Once established, the plant tolerates dry conditions; water during establishment and extended drought. Its compact 2–3-foot height and 4–6-foot spread suit it to low foreground plantings. ## Landscape use Use it along slopes, at the front of a sunny border, or in a broad mass where its arching branches can spread. Spring flowers support pollinators, and the changing autumn foliage adds seasonal interest. ## Maintenance Water regularly through establishment, then reduce supplemental watering as roots settle in. Prune in spring after flowering only to remove damaged growth or keep the plant within its allotted space.
