About Double Weeping Flowering Cherry

Double Weeping Higan cherry ‘Pendula Plena Rosea’ is a deciduous tree with pendulous branches and early-spring rose-pink flowers. Its dense, double to semi-double blossoms distinguish it from single-flowered weeping forms. ## Landscape Use Use it as a flowering specimen with space for its hanging crown. The [Royal Horticultural Society profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/192879/prunus-%C3%97-subhirtella-pendula-plena-rosea/details) describes semi-double rose-pink flowers opening from dark red buds before the leaves, bronze-flushed new growth, green summer foliage, and yellow-orange autumn color. It reports maximum height and spread ranges of 4–8 metres (about 13–26 feet). The [Morton Arboretum’s Higan cherry guide](https://mortonarb.org/plant-and-protect/trees-and-plants/higan-cherry/) describes the same named Double Weeping cultivar as pink and double-flowered. ## Growing Conditions Plant in full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Allow enough clearance for the pendulous branches and broad mature spread. ## Maintenance Prune after flowering when shaping is needed, following the Higan cherry guidance from the [Morton Arboretum](https://mortonarb.org/plant-and-protect/trees-and-plants/higan-cherry/).
