Create design onlineAbout Dapple Dandy Pluot Tree
Dapple Dandy is a pluot with large freestone fruit, red-and-white flesh, and yellow-green skin that develops maroon and yellow mottling when ripe. Raintree describes its sweet plum-apricot flavor, July ripening, and need for a pollinizer. The [Raintree cultivar page](https://raintreenursery.com/products/dapple-dandy-pluot-semi-dwarf) also gives its chill requirement and mature height.
## Growing
Plant in full sun. Raintree lists about 300–400 chill hours, USDA zone 5 hardiness, and a mature height near 15 feet on Citation rootstock. Dapple Dandy needs a compatible pollinizer, and its blossoms must overlap with that cultivar’s bloom for fruit set.
## Fruit
The freestone fruit is useful fresh and for preserving. Ripe skin becomes dappled maroon and yellow over a yellow-green ground, and the red-and-white flesh has a sweet, plum-apricot flavor. Thin fruit to reduce over-setting and the risk of biennial bearing.
## Maintenance
Water consistently while fruit develops and keep the root area free of competing grass. Prune to maintain an open, accessible canopy and remove damaged wood. Check local timing for thinning, harvest, and stone-fruit pest management.
