Create design onlineAbout Flavor Queen Pluot®
Flavor Queen® is an interspecific plum–apricot hybrid grown for its sweet, juicy fruit. Greenish-yellow skin surrounds amber-orange flesh, and the prolonged crop ripens from mid-July through August. Dave Wilson Nursery lists a 400–500-hour chilling requirement and recommends Dapple Dandy or Flavor Supreme pluot, or a Japanese plum such as Burgundy, as pollenizers; it specifically notes that Flavor King is not compatible ([Dave Wilson Nursery](https://www.davewilson.com/nurseries/products/fruit-trees/pluot-interspecific/flavor_queen/)).
## Seasonal Character
The fruit colors from greenish yellow toward harvest and provides a summer crop. Allow room for a mature fruit tree and plan a nearby compatible pollenizer where fruit production is desired.
## Growing Conditions
For reliable fruiting, plant in full sun and well-drained soil. Maintain even moisture during establishment and through dry periods. Regional performance depends on winter chill and local growing conditions; the listed chilling range is a cultivar requirement, not a guarantee of crop timing.
## Maintenance
Water deeply during dry weather and maintain an open canopy with selective pruning. Follow local guidance for pruning and thinning fruit, and keep fallen fruit cleared around the tree.
