About Snow Fountain® Weeping Flowering Cherry

Snow Fountain® (‘Snofozam’) is a slow-growing deciduous cherry with a naturally cascading outline and an early-spring display of white flowers. The same selection is sold as a natural weeping tree, a top-grafted tree, or a groundcover, so displayed height depends on the nursery form. NC State Extension gives tree-form dimensions of 8–15 feet high and 6–8 feet wide. [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/prunus-x-subhirtella-snow-fountains-snofozam/common-name/weeping-higan-cherry/) ## Landscape Use Use the weeping branches as a specimen in a small garden, courtyard, or Asian-inspired planting. The cascading habit also suits a slope or wall when the groundcover form is selected. White flowers appear before the summer foliage. ## Growing Conditions Grow in full sun for the strongest flowering, though light shade is tolerated. A fertile, well-drained loam is suitable; keep the root zone evenly moist while the tree establishes. Dark-green leaves turn gold or orange in autumn. It is listed for USDA Zones 5–8. ## Maintenance Prune lightly after flowering to preserve the natural outline. Watch for occasional caterpillars, leaf miners, blossom wilt, or bacterial canker, and avoid unnecessary pruning that removes developing flower buds.
