Create design onlineAbout Guava Tree 'Ruby Supreme'
Ruby Supreme is a fruiting guava selected for sweet, aromatic fruit with deep pink to ruby-colored flesh. This warm-climate evergreen can be grown as a small landscape tree or, with pruning, kept more compact for a sheltered space.
## Fruit and landscape
The fruit is described as round or pear-shaped, with fragrant, sweet pulp suited to fresh eating and preserves. The tree is self-fruitful, so a second guava is not required for a crop, although another plant may increase production. See the [Ruby Supreme product profile](https://bobwellsnursery.com/product/ruby-supreme-guava-tree/) and the [Trees.com Ruby Supreme guide](https://www.trees.com/products/ruby-supreme-guava-tree).
## Growing conditions
Plant in a warm, sunny position with freely draining soil. Regular moisture supports growth and fruit production, while standing water can injure roots. The [University of Florida guava guide](https://ask.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/MG045) describes guava as a tropical fruit crop and recommends full sun.
## Maintenance
Water young trees while they establish, then adjust irrigation to rainfall and soil drying. Prune selectively to maintain a manageable framework and remove crossing or damaged branches. Protect the tree from cold where winter temperatures fall below its suitable range. Monitor fruit as it ripens and harvest promptly.
