About Mrs. Moon Lungwort

Mrs. Moon is a spring-flowering lungwort valued for foliage marbled with pale markings and for flowers that open pink before turning lilac-blue. The Royal Horticultural Society describes it as a clump-forming, semi-evergreen perennial for cool, moist, shaded garden settings. ## Garden Use Use Mrs. Moon at the edge of a woodland bed or among other shade-tolerant perennials, where its patterned leaves can brighten the ground layer. The [RHS plant profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/232776/pulmonaria-officinalis-mrs-moon/details) records the names “Bethlehem lungwort ‘Mrs Moon’” and “Bethlehem sage ‘Mrs Moon’,” and describes pink buds opening to lilac-blue flowers in late winter or early spring. Its broad reported mature dimensions are 0.1–0.5 m tall and 0.5–1 m wide. ## Growing Conditions Choose partial or full shade and moist, well-drained soil; the RHS lists loam, clay, and chalk among suitable soil types. RHS reports a broad mature height of 0.1–0.5 m and a spread of 0.5–1 m, so leave room for a wider clump than a compact nursery pot suggests. ## Maintenance Keep the soil from drying out during active growth and remove damaged leaves. Allow healthy foliage to remain after flowering, then tidy the clump as older leaves fade.
