Pasque Flower

Pasque flower is a spring-blooming perennial with finely divided leaves and silky flower buds; blossoms range from purple and red-purple to white and give way to feathery seedheads. University of Wisconsin Extension describes a low foliage mound with flower stems rising above it, so the mature display is taller than leaves alone. Native to dry meadows in central and northern Europe, it suits sunny, well-drained rock gardens and border fronts, and is hardy in USDA zones 4–8. ## Garden Use Use it in a sunny, sharply drained position, such as a rock garden or the front of a mixed border. Leave the plumed seedheads in place if you want their ornamental texture after flowering.
