Create design onlineAbout Cleveland Pear Tree
Cleveland Select flowering pear is a narrow, upright ornamental cultivar of Callery pear. It produces clusters of white flowers in spring, followed by glossy green leaves that develop red-purple fall color. Oregon State University lists Cleveland Select as a synonym of Chanticleer and describes a narrow pyramidal form; the University of Connecticut gives the named cultivar a mature size of about 30 feet tall by 15 feet wide.
## Garden Use
Its relatively narrow canopy can suit a street or garden site where a broad tree would crowd nearby space, but allow room for mature branches and roots. The name Chanticleer is also used for the same selection in university references, so check the cultivar label when comparing nursery listings.
## Maintenance
Plant in full sun and water while the tree establishes. Remove damaged or crossing branches as needed, using clean tools and preserving the natural upright crown. Inspect flowering pears regularly for stress or disease and consult local arboriculture guidance if symptoms appear.
