Create design onlineAbout Redspire Flowering Pear
Redspire is a pyramidal flowering pear that broadens with age, producing white spring flowers and glossy green leaves with yellow-to-red fall color. The [Borough of Glen Ridge’s tree profile](https://www.glenridgenj.org/shadetree/redspirepear/) reports mature dimensions of 35–45 feet tall and 20–25 feet wide; [Cornell’s Woody Plants Database](https://woodyplants.cals.cornell.edu/cultivar/11779) notes that its form is looser than Bradford pear and that it is susceptible to fire blight.
## Seasonal Interest
Abundant white flowers cover the branches in spring. The canopy remains green through summer before developing yellow and red autumn tones.
## Placement
Reserve room for a broadening crown and strong root space. This is a substantial landscape tree, not a narrow upright screen; its mature form and branch strength should be considered when choosing a site.
## Maintenance
Water during establishment and during extended dry spells. Inspect periodically for fire-blight symptoms and weak or damaged branches, and prune affected wood during dry weather using clean tools.
