Green Jade is a productive European pear selected for large, juicy fruit that can ripen on the tree while crisp. The cultivar is noted for resistance to fire blight and fruit with a pleasant, sweet flavor.
## Fruit and pollination
Fruit typically ripens by mid-August, depending on climate. Plant a compatible pear whose flowering overlaps. Thin young fruit to one per cluster after fruit set to reduce premature fruit drop and improve fruit development.
## Growing conditions
Choose a sunny site with loamy or sandy, well-drained soil. Standard trees are reported at roughly 20–25 feet tall and 15–25 feet wide, while semidwarf rootstocks produce smaller trees; the rootstock therefore matters when planning space. White flowers appear in mid to late spring, followed by green foliage that turns yellow in fall.

## Maintenance
Prune to maintain a well-spaced framework, and thin fruit as it develops. Water consistently during establishment and fruit development, then adjust to local rainfall and soil drainage.
