Korean Sun™ is a compact, rounded flowering pear identified by Oregon State University as Pyrus fauriei; the source also lists 'Westwood' as a synonym. This selection has white flowers that appear after leaves emerge and red to red-purple autumn foliage. [Oregon State's exact Korean Sun profile](https://landscapeplants.oregonstate.edu/plants/pyrus-fauriei-korean-sun) records its form, dimensions and selection history.
## Landscape use
Use as a small ornamental tree where a rounded crown and spring flowers are useful. Oregon State reports an approximate mature size of 12 feet tall by 15 feet wide and hardiness to USDA zone 4. The species is native to Korea, and this named selection was selected by Mel Westwood at Oregon State University.
## Seasonal interest
Medium-green leaves emerge before the white flowers; small fruits follow, and foliage develops red to red-purple color in fall. The flowers open after the leaves rather than before them.
## Maintenance
Plant in full sun and leave room for the mature crown. Water during establishment and prolonged dry weather. Prune selectively to remove dead, damaged or crossing branches, and avoid cutting away the natural rounded form.
