About Warren Pear Tree

Warren is a European pear cultivar grown for its buttery, juicy dessert fruit and good keeping quality. Dave Wilson Nursery reports a midseason harvest, self-fruitfulness, and high fire blight resistance, while Oklahoma State University lists Warren among high-quality dessert pears. [DWN Variety Finder](https://www.wheretobuy.davewilson.com/product-information/product/warren-pear) and [Oklahoma State Extension](https://extension.okstate.edu/fact-sheets/growing-and-producing-pears-in-oklahoma) provide cultivar and orchard guidance. ## Fruit and planting The long-necked fruit has pale green skin that may show a red blush. Dave Wilson gives August 7–27 as an approximate harvest period for Hickman, California, so local timing will vary. Warren is described as self-fruitful, though neighboring compatible pears may improve fruit set in many gardens. Rootstock strongly affects mature size; semi-dwarf and standard trees differ, so check the rootstock before deciding how much room to allow. ## Maintenance Plant in full sun and well-drained, loamy soil. Keep young trees watered through establishment, train a sturdy framework while dormant, and thin heavy crops when needed. Monitor pear foliage and fruit for local disease and insect issues, and follow regional extension guidance for pruning, sanitation, and harvest.
