Quercus pubescens, the Downy Oak, is a resilient medium-sized deciduous tree reaching up to 20 meters. It features a broad, irregular crown and distinctive "downy" hairs on its twigs and young lobed leaves. Thriving in sunny, warm locations with lime-rich soils, this long-lived species is exceptionally tolerant of heat, drought, and urban pollution. Its rugged, furrowed bark adds character, while its symbiotic relationship with truffles and use in reforestation make it ecologically vital.
