About Rainbow Rhythm® 'Going Bananas' Daylily

Rainbow Rhythm® ‘Going Bananas’ is a compact daylily with fragrant, canary-yellow flowers that open fully above semi-evergreen leaves. Its 19–22-inch scapes carry a long sequence of blooms from early summer into early fall. ## Garden Use Plant it near the front of a sunny border, along a path, or in a broad container where its rounded yellow flowers can be enjoyed at close range. The clump spreads about 18–24 inches, and the relatively short scapes combine easily with other perennials without overwhelming them. ## Seasonal Display Walters Gardens describes ‘Going Bananas’ as an early-midseason rebloomer with flowers that continue nearly continuously into early fall. The [Walters Gardens variety profile](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=HMGBA) lists 19–22 inches tall, 18–24 inches wide, zones 3–9, and full sun to part shade. ## Growing Conditions Choose a well-drained bed with good light. Water new plantings regularly until established; mature daylilies tolerate some drought, but moisture during the growing season supports better flowering. ## Maintenance Remove spent flowers and seed pods to keep the clump neat. Divide crowded plants in early spring or after flowering, and clear dead leaves before new growth resumes. [University of Minnesota Extension](https://extension.umn.edu/garden-and-home/yard-and-garden/gardening-in-minnesota/daylilies) provides practical care and division timing.
