About Rainbow Rhythm® 'King of the Ages' Daylily

Rainbow Rhythm® ‘King of the Ages’ is a tall daylily selected for large, multicolored summer flowers. Its butter-yellow, peach, and apricot petals carry a burgundy-red eye, creating a bright focal point above upright green foliage. ## Placement and size The breeder lists a garden height of 38 inches and a spread of 18 to 24 inches. Give it full sun to part sun, with more direct light supporting strong flowering. Plant it in a mixed perennial border or repeat it in a sunny bed; the upright stems add height while the compact clump fits near paths and patios. ## Flowers and growing conditions The flowers are about 6.5 inches across, and the plant may rebloom. Proven Winners lists USDA zones 3–9 and average water needs. Daylilies adapt to many soils, though well-drained ground with regular moisture helps them perform well. The [University of Minnesota Extension daylily guide](https://extension.umn.edu/garden-and-home/yard-and-garden/gardening-in-minnesota/daylilies) recommends avoiding competition from nearby trees and shrubs. ## Maintenance Remove faded individual flowers and finished stalks for a tidier clump. Divide vigorous plants when they become crowded or flowering declines; early spring or shortly after bloom is a suitable time. Water newly planted divisions thoroughly.
