Kroc’s Palm is Ravenea krociana, an accepted species native to southeastern Madagascar. Kew places it in the wet tropical biome and lists it as Endangered (EN); Trebrown records it from moist forest on mid-slopes near Andohahela. [Kew Plants of the World Online](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:980042-1/general-information) · [Trebrown Nurseries](https://www.trebrown.com/plant_info.php?species=Ravenea+krociana)
## Natural setting
Trebrown describes a tall, solitary palm of wet rainforest or seasonally wet low-montane forest, with relatively slight temperature fluctuation. It favors consistently mild conditions with little temperature change.
## Maintenance
Provide warmth, humidity, and steady moisture in a freely draining medium. Avoid cold exposure; the species profile says low temperatures are best avoided, despite some ability to tolerate near-freezing conditions. In a cold climate, use a protected conservatory rather than an exposed garden site. Trebrown lists cold hardiness as 10a; grow it outdoors only where winter cold is limited, and use shelter in cooler climates.
