Purple Rhododendron

Rhododendron ponticum is a robust, dense evergreen shrub known for its vigorous growth habit and leathery, dark green foliage. In late spring, it produces large, attractive trusses of violet-purple flowers that create a dramatic display. While widely used for hedging and screens in large gardens, it is notoriously invasive in certain climates. It thrives in acidic, moist, well-drained soils and is highly adaptable to conditions ranging from full sun to deep woodland shade.
