## Garden use
The small rounded shrub provides a bright floral display with contrasting foliage from summer into fall. Its moderate scale works near a patio or along a mixed planting, where it can be viewed at close range.
## Siting and water
Choose a full-sun location for the strongest bloom. Keep the root zone evenly moist while the plant establishes, then water during extended dry periods; use well-drained soil and avoid keeping the roots saturated. Its cultivar denomination, SMNLIDS, is protected by U.S. plant patent PP31384, issued January 21, 2020. [Patent record](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP31384P2/en)
## Maintenance
The plant usually needs little pruning when planted with room to mature. Remove damaged growth as needed and avoid topping the branches. [UF/IFAS pruning guidance](https://ask.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/ep399).
