About Rockapulco® Coral Reef Double Impatiens

Rockapulco® Coral Reef is a double-flowered garden impatiens for shaded containers, borders, and mass plantings. [Proven Winners identifies](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/impatiens/rockapulco-coral-reef-double-impatiens-impatiens-walleriana) the cultivar as *Impatiens walleriana* 'Balcoree' (USPP 22,992), with salmon-coral shading, a mounded form, and flowers from spring until frost. ## Flowers and placement Miniature rosebud-like double blooms rise above green foliage. The plant typically grows 10–20 inches tall and spreads 12–24 inches; Proven Winners lists it as a container filler and recommends it for edging, landscape plantings, and mass plantings. It performs in part shade to shade. Garden impatiens are usually grown as annuals outside tropical climates, where they can persist as perennials. ## Growing conditions Give it moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. [North Carolina State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-walleriana/) notes that *I. walleriana* prefers part to full shade; hot, dry spells can cause wilting and extra watering may be needed, while excessive moisture can lead to rot. The species is cold-sensitive, so set plants outside after frost danger has passed. ## Maintenance Keep the root zone evenly moist without leaving the soil waterlogged, especially during hot weather. Proven Winners says deadheading is unnecessary; shaping is optional if stems become leggy. Container-grown plants benefit from regular fertilization.
