Rockapulco® Tropical Shades is a mounded annual impatiens with double, rosebud-like flowers in shades from peachy pink to deep orange. Proven Winners lists a height of 10–20 inches, a 12–24-inch spread, and spring and summer flowering in part shade to shade ([selection profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/impatiens/rockapulco-tropical-shades-double-impatiens-impatiens-walleriana)).
## Landscape Use
Use it in shaded borders, containers, or mass plantings where its varied flower shades can read as a seasonal carpet or close-range accent. The breeder lists it for borders, containers, landscape plantings, and mass planting, with green foliage and a mounded habit. Because the flower range is mixed, pair it with foliage or neutral-flowered companions when a quieter palette is wanted.
## Growing Conditions
North Carolina State Extension describes Impatiens walleriana as performing best in part to full shade and in moist, well-drained soil amended with organic matter at slightly acidic pH. Keep the root zone evenly moist; hot, dry spells can increase watering needs, while overwatering can cause rot ([NC State Extension care profile](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/impatiens-walleriana/)). The species is often grown as an annual outside tropical climates.
## Maintenance
The breeder rates this selection easy to maintain and says deadheading is unnecessary. Check containers regularly for moisture, especially in warm weather. If plants become leggy late in the season, Extension recommends trimming back about one-third to encourage fresh growth.
