Kew places it in the wet tropical biome, giving it a distinctive place among Caribbean royal palms. ## Range and form The species occurs in southwestern Jamaica. Kew also shows that *Roystonea* is a genus of ten accepted species whose native range spans southern Florida, the Caribbean, Mexico and Venezuela.
