Baby Cakes™ Blackberry is the compact, thornless APF-236T selection, grown for sweet berries and patio containers. Bushel and Berry lists a rounded 3–4 ft. plant, full sun, and zones 4–8; in most regions, fruit appears twice in one season.
## Growing
Plant in full sun and well-drained soil, and keep the root zone evenly supplied with water while the canes grow and fruit develops. This dwarf blackberry has an upright, rounded habit that fits a large patio pot as well as an edible border. Its canes are thornless, making harvest and routine care easier.
## Fruit
Large, sweet berries ripen in summer and fall. APF-236T is a primocane-fruiting cultivar: both current-season and older canes can flower and fruit, allowing two crops in many regions. Pick ripe berries regularly for fresh eating or preserve them for later use. The [Bushel and Berry profile](https://www.bushelandberry.com/baby-cakes-info) gives the cultivar’s zone, sun, size, and fruit-season guidance; the [USPP27032 patent](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP27032P2/en) and [Canadian PBR record](https://active.inspection.gc.ca/english/plaveg/pbrpov/cropreport/bla/app00010057e.shtml) identify the APF-236T selection and its cane-fruiting traits.
## Maintenance
Water consistently through fruit development, especially in containers, and prune according to the primocane-fruiting cycle. Remove damaged canes and keep the pot’s drainage open.
