Rocky Mountain flowering raspberry (*Rubus deliciosus*) is a deciduous shrub with arching, usually unarmed branches. It bears large, solitary white flowers in spring and grows about 6–10 feet tall in cultivation.
The species is native to the Rocky Mountains, and its flowers are the main garden feature. Small dry fruits have little flavor, so this shrub is best enjoyed for its flowering display rather than planted as a berry crop. Choose a sunny site with good loamy soil and room for a sturdy shrub to spread its branches. The Royal Horticultural Society records “Rocky Mountain flowering raspberry” and “showy white-flowered bramble” as common names; Kew recognizes *R. deliciosus* as a botanical species.
## Maintenance
This is a low-intervention shrub. If it becomes crowded, occasionally prune out older wood after flowering to encourage younger branches; avoid frequent shearing that would remove the flowering shoots. Maintain an open root area and water during establishment until the plant is settled.
